Episode #164 More than 8 billion people live on this planet. Different countries. Yet beneath all these differences, human behaviour is driven by the same six fundamental needs. I first learned this powerful framework when I travelled to Sydney, Australia, to attend Tony Robbins’ flagship event, Unleash the Power Within — UPW. It completely changed the way I understood human behaviour. The six human needs are:
Every decision you make is an attempt to fulfil one or more of these needs. The work you choose. The relationships you create. The habits you repeat. The goals you pursue. Even the actions you avoid. All of them are connected to these six needs. Here is the real breakthrough: You do not lack motivation. When your goal gives you certainty, growth, significance, connection or contribution, action becomes easier. You stop forcing yourself. You start moving naturally. So Today... “How do I motivate myself?” Ask: “Which human need will this goal fulfil for me?” For example: A business goal may give you significance and certainty. A health goal may give you growth and confidence. A relationship goal may give you love and connection. A mission-driven goal may give you contribution. The stronger the connection, the stronger the action. Your Action StepChoose one important goal and write down: Which of my six human needs will this goal fulfil? Then connect the goal to at least three needs. Your goal will immediately feel more meaningful, more emotional and far more powerful. Because goals connected only to logic are easy to postpone. But goals connected to your deepest needs become difficult to ignore. Power Thought: When your goal fulfils your deepest needs, discipline stops feeling like punishment and starts feeling like purpose.
